Youth coach arrested, charged with sexual assault by a minor

Chris “Coach Frogg” Flores, a well-known youth coach from Southern California football preparation community, was arrested Thursday by Bakersfield police after being charged with sexually assaulting a minor, Santa Ana Police Department Sgt. said Maria Lopez.

Flores coached at the Orange County-based Stars Prep Academy, whose website describes the organization as “a cooperative that provides elite athletic performance training for college athletes.”

Lopez said the arrest was made after detectives interviewed a 14-year-old girl, Flores, trained at Stars Prep. Detectives learned Flores was in Bakersfield and the Bakersfield Police Department arrested Flores, Lopez said.

On Wednesday, Stars Prep founder Jason David posted a video statement on the organization’s Instagram account, saying he supported the Santa Ana police in their investigation. I wrote in the caption that they “cut all ties” with Flores.

Flores is said to have nurtured the region’s top talent such as former St. John quarterback Bosco DJ Uiagalelei and current Los Alamitos star Malachi Nelson.
