Tyler Perry shares what he learned from giving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a home

Tyler Perry hopes to clarify any misconceptions the world may have regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Marklethe relationship.

The “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” Actor and Filmmaker abandoned by “Today” this week and recalled offering their Los Angeles home to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the couple retired as working royals and moved to the United States in 2020.

Noting that his gesture came at “a very difficult time for them”, Perry nevertheless said he felt moved to witness the true love Meghan and Harry have for each other.

“What I know about them that I wish the world knew is how much they love each other. These two people love each other” I have explained. “Of all those chances that they didn’t find each other, they found each other. The love that they have is really, really emotional, and I just wanted to do whatever I could to support them.

He went on to note, “If I don’t have this – which she and Harry have – I don’t want it.”

Talk to The Cut last month, Meghan explained that she had never met Perry before she and Harry accepted his offer.

“Sometimes you can tell your life story to a stranger on a plane rather than some of the people closest to you,” she said.

These days, Perry is celebrating the release of a new passion project. On Friday, Netflix will unveil its latest directorial effort, “In Jazzman’s Blues.” The film is a romantic drama based on a screenplay Perry wrote 27 years ago.

In his “Today” appearance, Perry explained how he originally considered Will Smith, Halle Berry and Diana Ross for the roles in the film. The final version stars Joshua Boone and Solea Pfieffer, but remains a “labor of love”.

“I knew it was special. I just had to wait for the right moment,” he said. “I was imagining great things, but nothing to this degree. It’s beyond my imagination.
