Tom Brady suspends Mike Evans for fight in Bucs-Saints game: ‘I think it’s ridiculous’

Tom Brady made his feelings clear about his teammate’s suspension Mike Evans for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver role in a fight with New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

Brady let an official hear him after missing Scotty Miller. ace Brady walked the field, Lattimore seemed to gesture to him. Leonard Fournette would eventually get involved and Marcus May would come to support Lattimore. Evans would then rush forward and push Lattimore to the ground.

The NFL suspended Evans for one game on Monday. I would have planned to appeal the decision.

Brady opened up about Evans’ suspension on the latest episode of the “Let’s go!” podcast

“I love Mike and having Mike come out there to defend me means everything in the world to me as a teammate and friend. And Mike knows how I feel about him. So in the end, the Emotions are a part of sport. Sometimes they boil over, and they obviously did yesterday,” Brady said.

“And that’s an unfortunate circumstance. I don’t think it deserved any kind of suspension. I think it’s ridiculous. You know, hopefully we can get past this, get to a better place. I know that he’ll learn from it. And he knows we’re all back.”

Evans was one of the most productive wide receivers in NFL history in his first eight seasons. He received over 1,000 yards in each of his eight years in the league.

Over the past two seasons, with Brady at quarterback, Evans has rushed for 1,041 yards on 144 catches and 27 touchdowns. The 13 scores in 2020 and the 14 in 2021 were both career high totals.

Losing Evans is definitely a blow for Brady and the offense of the buccaneers. The team could be without Evans and an injured Chris Godwin for Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers.
