The pirates assigned Yoshitomo Tsutsugo for a mission

First baseman Yoshitomo Tsutsugo was designated for an assignment by the Pittsburgh Pirates to make room on the 40-man roster Wednesday.

Signed to a $4 million deal this offseason, the 30-year-old former NPB slugger struggled in 2022, his third MLB season, hitting .171 in 50 games with two home runs, 19 RBIs and a base percentage of 0.249.
