This was revealed by Sundowns on Friday after Pirates announced the capture of Erasmus on a two-year deal earlier today.
“Mamelodi Sundowns have parted ways with Kermit Romeo Erasmus who joined the Brazilians in October 2020,” read a statement from Sundowns.
“The enterprising striker’s contract was due to end in May and both parties have agreed to an early termination to allow Kermit more playing time elsewhere.
“During Kermit’s two years with Mamelodi Sundowns, the talented player demonstrated professionalism and was always available to share his knowledge and experience with his teammates.
“Everyone at Mamelodi Sundowns wishes Romeo well in his future endeavors on and off the pitch.”
Erasmus made 43 appearances and scored 10 goals for Sundowns during his two-year spell with the club.
