Simone Holtznagel defends before and after weight loss photos

Model Simone Holtznagel has defended posting before and after photos that appear to highlight her “drastic” weight loss.

Holtznagel and her personal trainer boyfriend Jono Castano shared a joint Instagram post that showed her slimmer after “hard work” at the gym.

“They are always quick to judge you, but no results come from an easy journey,” Castano wrote.

“You still eat your burgers once in a while and focus on that we can still enjoy a martini or two or 5. So proud of you baby!”

Some commenters said the photos promoted an “unhealthy” lifestyle.

But Holtznagel fired back, telling the The telegraph of the day the difference between the two photos was “not drastic” and was the result of regular training after gaining weight during the pandemic.

“Since the lockdown ended and I got back to my normal, hectic life, I got back to my fitness routine,” she said.

“People commented saying it was ‘trigger’ and ‘before and after’ (photos) don’t belong in 2022…I thought what we weren’t doing in 2022 was to comment on the bodies of others.

“I thought I looked great on the left, I thought I looked great on the right. One thing I’ll take away from this post is that you can’t please everyone. I’ve been taller and I was smaller, but I was happy in both stages of my life.

She added that she ate pasta four times a week and had the occasional drink.

Following the criticism, Holtnagel posted videos online showing her having McDonald’s with Castano, of her boyfriend munching on a cheese platter and sipping a cocktail.

She encouraged anyone upset by the post to unfollow her.
