The Indian Venture & Alternate Capital Association (IVCA), the apex body for the private equity and venture capital industry, said on Wednesday that it had formed a new eight-member venture capital (VC) council for the year 2022-2024 and that it had named Rajan Anandanthe general manager of redwood india and Southeast Asia, as Chair.

The VC Council will be co-chaired by Capital Trifecta co-founder and managing director, Rahul Khanna, and will aim to drive engagement with government by advocating for policies that encourage innovation that contributes to capital creation, nation-building and knowledge dissemination.

The new council will function as a permanent sub-committee under the aegis of IVCA Executive Committee. Currently, the IVCA is home to several thematic councils and sub-committees covering issues relating to regulatory affairs, credit and special situations, real estate, limited partners, global investors, to cover the growing interests of its members.

The VC Council is one such sub-committee hosted by the IVCA.

Other members of the venture capital board are Manish Khetarpal of WaterBridge Ventures, Priyanka Chopra of Bharat Innovation Fund, Ruchi Khajanchi of A91 Partners, Sehraj Singh of Prosus Ventures, Sameer Brij Verma of Nexus Venture Partners and Anil Joshi of Unicorn India Ventures.

“Our mandate as a venture capital advisor is to ensure that we continue to build on this strong foundation while addressing a range of areas such as attracting more domestic capital, improving governance and encouraging new funds in emerging sectors. In doing so, we look forward to working with all venture capitalists in the sector and our progressive policymakers in government to take our ecosystem to new heights,” said Anandan.
