TW: This article is about sexual assault.
A Washington state woman has been sentenced to 23 years behind bars for sex trafficking her 6-year-old daughter to a perv she met online in exchange for sneakers and cash, reports the New York Postt.
Kylie Ruby Flores, a 31-year-old Spokane resident, sold her baby girl to a man she met on the dating site Plenty of Fish, who promised to pay with new Nike shoes, “small sums money and a place to stay, federal prosecutors said.
Flores and Trever Harder – who filmed himself raping the girl in her apartment – have pleaded guilty, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.
“The facts of this case present some of the most egregious sexual abuse of a child imaginable,” U.S. Attorney Vanessa Waldref said in a statement Wednesday after sentencing.
“Today’s sentence is significant, but it’s equally important to remember that Flores’ sentence is likely to be much shorter than the lifelong impact on the child,” Waldref added. “No amount of punishment can restore a child’s innocence, but our community is now safer and stronger.”
The depraved couple committed the abuse between February 2 and July 26 last year, according to the original indictment.
The girl was able to describe the abuse she faced from Harder, who set up a camera on a cat tree in her Cheney, Washington apartment to record the sickening attack on the girl on her couch, prosecutors said. Authorities later confiscated the disgusting video filmed last July, prosecutors say.
Harder is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty, officials said.
The little girl’s relationship to Flores was not disclosed by prosecutors, but the spokesperson (from Spokane) identified her as Flores’ daughter.
“Thanks to an effective and cooperative investigation, she is not missing or murdered today, but she is not the only child at risk,” Waldref said. “Today’s sentencing sends a clear message to those who seek to sexually abuse children: Justice is coming.”
