Men with large penises and trimmed pubic hair are considered more outgoing, study finds

Men are often told that “the bigger the better” when it comes to penis size.

And a new study suggests that might be true — at least in terms of perceived personality.

Researchers from New Mexico Highlands University says men with large penises and cut pubic hair are considered more attractive, outgoing and open to new experiences, while those with smaller limbs are considered more neurotic.

“This research demonstrates that genital appearance can contribute to socially shared implicit theories about people, whether or not these impressions reflect the true personality of the person being assessed,” the researchers wrote in their study.

What your penis says about you

Little

  • More neurotic
  • Worse in bed
  • Less open to new experiences

Big

  • more attractive
  • More sexually active
  • More extroverted
  • more conscientious

In the study, the team set out to assess how people perceive men’s personalities based solely on their penises.

Write in the journal Sexuality & Culturethe team, led by Thomas R. Brooks, said: “Dating app users are likely to see a high frequency of viewing sexually explicit material from potential partners prior to a physical meeting.

“The present study aimed to determine what information is inferred from an image of a zero-knowledge penis.”

The team enrolled 106 participants (80% women) for the study, who were shown photos of 24 penises that varied in girth, length and amount of pubic hair.

After viewing each photo, participants had to answer 11 questions:

  1. This is a prototypical/stereotypical penis.
  2. It is an attractive penis.
  3. This person is sexually active.
  4. This person would be good in bed.
  5. This person is outgoing, enthusiastic.
  6. This person is reliable, independent.
  7. This person is anxious, easily upset.
  8. This person is open to new, complex experiences.
  9. This person is friendly, warm.
  10. Would this person be an active member of sex (pleasure) or a passive member of sex (princess pillow)?
  11. How many sexual partners do you think this person has had?

The results revealed key links between penis size, pubic hair and perceived personality traits.

In terms of length, short penises were associated with more neuroticism, while men with long penises were considered more attractive, more sexually active, better in bed, more outgoing, more conscientious, and more open to new experiences.

When it came to girth, men with narrow penises were considered more neurotic.

In contrast, those with a large penis were perceived to be more sexually active, better in bed, more outgoing, more open to new experiences, more pleasurable, and having had more sexual partners.

Finally, it seems that when it comes to pubic hair, trimming is the best option for men.

“Penises with cropped pubic hair were perceived as more prototypical and attractive,” the researchers wrote.

“However, while it was perceived to be more conscientious than uncut pubic hair, it did not differ significantly from fully shaved pubic hair.”

Taken together, the results suggest that impressions can be formed of men based solely on their penises.

“While most research has prioritized face images and biographies of potential mates, the current findings take a step forward to investigate how penis images can contribute to holistic person perception in digital spaces. “, said the researchers.

They now hope to conduct further studies in which men’s personalities are actually assessed to see how they compare to perceptions based solely on their penises.

WOMEN PREFER A BIGGER PENIS FOR ONE NIGHT THAN FOR A LONG TERM RELATIONSHIP

According to a 2016 study, women prefer a bigger penis for a one-night stand than for a long-term relationship.

Dr. Nicole Prause, a neuroscientist at UCLA who specializes in libido, created 33 3D-printed phalluses, which were placed in a basket.

Seventy-five women were asked to select two ideal penises from the basket of 3D printed penises – one they would prefer for a one-night-only affair and one for a long-term partner.

The largest in the basket was just under 9 inches and the smallest just over 4 inches.

The study found that a long-term boyfriend’s ultimate erect penis size was 6.3 inches in length and 4.8 inches in girth.

For a single night, the average ideal was 6.4 inches in length, 5 inches in girth.

Both are larger than the average penis length and girth in the UK and the US.

In the UK, the average erect penis is between 5.7 inches long and between 4.9 inches in circumference.

In America, the average erect penis measures just under 5.6 inches in length and 4.8 inches in girth.

Contrary to popular belief, the study overwhelmingly showed that – although women prefer penises that are slightly larger than average – they are more concerned about girth.

It’s something Dr. Prause has come to observe in her work, and she told Broadly that the obsession with length is somewhat confusing given the studies and research.

“Science has consistently shown that circumference is a stronger predictor of female preferences and satisfaction,” she said.

“It may be that surgeries to increase length tend to have better results, so men focus on length as something they can more likely affect.

“Limited to physical attractiveness, many health indicators that are at least somewhat within our control affect how attractive women are. This includes things like weight, muscularity, pale skin, and acne.
