A footballer missed his wedding day to introduce himself to a new team.
Mohamed Buya Turay was not there on the big day as he accepted another type of contract instead, The sun reports
The Sierra Leonean international signed this summer with Swedish team Malmö after a stint in China.
And Malmö were so keen on the 27-year-old joining the team as soon as possible that it made him miss his own wedding.
Although Turay made sure bride Suad Baydoun wasn’t alone – sending her brother to take her place instead.
The striker was unveiled as a Malmö player on July 22, with Turay’s wedding having taken place a day earlier, without the groom.
Luckily, the happy couple had smartly taken wedding photos before the star was forced to fly to Sweden.
Turay hilariously told Swedish media Afton Bladet: “We got married on July 21 in Sierra Leone.
“But I wasn’t there because Malmö asked me to come here earlier.
“We took the photos beforehand. So it looks like I was there but I wasn’t. My brother had to represent me at the wedding himself.
Turay admitted he still hasn’t found his wife.
He continued: “I will try to take her to Sweden and Malmö now so she can be close to me. She will live here with me.
The striker now hopes he will be there to fly on his honeymoon.
But he foresees in advance a triumph in title of champion.
Turay concluded: “First we have to win the league, then I go on my honeymoon.”
The striker made his debut for Malmö in the Europa League qualifying stages in midweek.
