Climate change bill reveals ‘imminent influence’ of teal independents

The climate change bill passed by the lower house today showed a real sign of the impending influence of so-called teal independents in this parliament, said Sky News political editor Andrew Clennell.

“What we saw this morning was a real sign of the Teals’ impending influence in this parliament, coming up with a bunch of amendments that the government accepted,” Mr Clennell said.

“One of them, Zali Steggall, claimed that her amendment meant that a future government could not reverse the target.

“And there were several other amendments, as Independent after Independent rose to offer one.”
