China’s military released a propaganda video of its troops launching missiles, grabbing weapons and taking off in fighter jets ahead Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi visit to Taiwan.

“If Pelosi insists on surrendering to Taiwan, China will take resolute and strong measures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told reporters on Monday, according to the report. New York Post.

The rhetoric comes after sources confirmed to The Wall Street Journal that Pelosi will be visiting Taiwan as part of his trip to asia this week, which would make the Speaker of the House the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit the independently governed island since Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich in 1997.

News of Pelosi’s trip did not sit well with China, which views Taiwan as its territory and any trip by a senior US official as confirmation of US support for the island’s independence.
