Bucs’ Mike Evans receives one-game suspension for fighting with Saints’ Marshon Lattimore

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans has been suspended one game without pay for his role in an altercation with New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

The NFL announced the suspension on Monday.

Jon Runyan, vice president of football operations for the NFL, said in a press release that Evans was suspended for violating league rules regarding unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct.

“After a game was over, you were walking towards your sidelines. When you noticed your teammates were engaged in a confrontation with the Saints players, you ran towards that area on the field and violently threw your body and struck an unsuspecting opponent who was part of this confrontation. You knocked your opponent to the ground and a scrum ensued involving players from both teams. Your aggressive conduct could have caused serious injury to your opponent and does not clearly reflect not the high standards of sportsmanship expected of a professional,” Runyan wrote. in his letter to Evans.
