Track: Sweet 5. rail: True

Insight: A race I still have some work to do on, but it feels like an open TAB highway as usual. Mr Eighty Eight, Sky Diamonds, Jalmari, Radiohead, Syrian Star and Rebels Edge all have claims and the odds don’t stop there!

Tips: Large exotics to start the day off right.

Insight: Fascinating race with lots of angles. Kote was brilliant in Canterbury’s last start and he looks like the horse to beat that dominating performance again. Cruel Summer wants the rain to come but he has a good chance if it does. He tried hard. Everything Machiavellian was super first and I can see him running a cheeky run from the inside draw here. Cool Lad and Adios Steve also have claims.

Tips: Kote is the one to beat but Cruel Summer (so wet) and All Machiavellian (so dry) may well run at odds.

Insight: Tricky race this. Hameron was a bit of a disappointing last start, but he just hit his usual flat and he picked up late in the play anyway. Alcyone wants the rain to come and he was just on the wrong side of the track at the last start. Wicklow didn’t have much luck in the last start and should also be respected, while Kiss The Bride and Quality Time both came off dominant wins in the last start and should be chances both ways.

Tips: Not much between these. Hameron the one to beat.

Insight: Cadre Du Noir has just been flying lately and he seems to be the one to beat here again. A little rain wouldn’t bother me. Herman Hesse bounced back to form the last start and he just wants the track to be relatively dry to have claims again. Grove Ferry and Fun Fact seem to be on the next line but happy to side with Cadre Du Noir.

Tips: Leaning To Black Frame.

Insight: Even run that. Solar Apex holds a super cool record and it just needs to get on the back of a turn to get the house to work just fine. The storytelling can bounce back if the rain comes, while Ita builds this campaign well and is quickly coming back here. Finepoint and Arctic Thunder are also in the game.

Tips: Solar Apex against the current.

Insight: Intriguing race. I think it all depends on the race Best Of Bordeaux gets in the lead, but if he can lead and ride he should be hard to catch. Opal Ridge should hunt him down wherever he goes and I don’t want to lose the race if she wins. Swiss Exile on the next line and it was too bad to be true last start.

Tips: The best of Bordeaux from Opal Ridge.

Insight: Very open mare racing. I know she had a good chance at the last start but Electric Girl has claims if the rain doesn’t come. The 1400m suits and she is well placed third. Palaisipan is doing very well and I loved his last 50m start. The extra trip is fine. Nimalee, Espiona (disappointing first place) and Startantes are also all chances to win.

Tips: Electric Girl if the track is dry.

Insight: The track layout and conditions seem crucial here. In Secret was a great last start, but she had the perfect race and everything went well for her. I don’t think she wants too much rain. Golden Mile was very strong in the last start and he brings this differently shaped line to the table here. Fireburn and She’s Extreme come into play if the rain comes, while Jacquinot’s Victorian form must also be respected.

Tips: In Secret the one to beat but Fireburn is a big chance if the track gets too heavy

(forecast in the air as I type this).

Insight: I don’t mind this race from a betting perspective. Surf Dancer has been flying lately and I think it’s going well for him up front. He walks into the light and should be hard to catch. War Eternal is shaping up to be third on the fast save and he ran fourth in a Randwick Guineas build third. Ellsberg has big claims but looks too short in betting, while Old Flame and Rustic Steel are in a similar boat and have claims.

Tips: Surf Dancer and War Eternal up for grabs.

Insight: Race open to end the day. Fire missed the last start and he made some mistakes in his races. He has the talent to win this though. Tristate is building this build well and looks set to take another step up to third, while Starman and A Very Fine Red will also have admirers. Winning Verse also has claims at every odds.

Tips: Winning Verse can work well in disagreement.
